Ella and the Night Fairies
Ella stayed wide awake in her cosy bed as the night sky painted itself in tones of deep blue and glittering stars. She often wondered whether the evening offered more than just rest. Did anything magical dance in the darkness? She had no idea, though tonight would be different.
Ella has always been the kind of person who felt the great was impossible. She believed dreams were jewels just waiting to be unearthed rather than only fantasy, the wind brought tunes from far-off places, and stars spoke secrets to those who listened closely. But what Ella was about to find—a secret—that evening had something more remarkable.
First, Ella heard a faint fluttering sound, like the wings of a butterfly. Her heart thrashed with excitement, and she sat up in bed. Her eyes looked about the room, and she saw a weak, luminous light in the corner. She first assumed it was just the moonlight slinking through the drapes, but then it moved.
“Who’s there?” said Ella whispered.
From the darkness, a small, gentle, musical voice answered. Our kind is the Night Fairies.
Ella surprised her with a blink. She had heard tales of fairies, of course, but she never dreamed they might visit her. Three sweet fairies floated there before her. They wore starlight costumes, and their wings glistened in the low light. They seemed to have sprung from a dream exactly.
The tiny fairy said, “We bring sweet dreams to children,” her wings shining like the first light of morning.
Ella’s eyes widened in awe. ” Sweet dreams?” You mean, you bring dreams to pass?
The fairy nodded, a glittering smile in her eyes. We do. We bring with us the gift of calm dreams and go to see the kids who require our assistance—dreams that evoke warmth, happiness, and safety.
Ella experienced a joyful, heart-filling experience. She had always yearned for something spectacular from the twilight, and here she was, encountering the same entities that rendered dreams so exquisite.
“What should I be doing??” anxious to be of assistance, Ella inquired.
The fairies laughed gently. You hardly have to do it at all. You only have to believe. That is crucial.
Ella nodded gravely, her eyes shining. “I guess. I do, indeed.
With their wings dragging stardust behind them, the fairies grinned at her and started to float about the room. They murmured words that sounded like music as they travelled: “We are carrying lovely dreams for every child asleep tonight—dreams of compassion, dreams of laughing, dreams of hope and light.
Ella marvelled as the fairies performed their magic. She sensed a pleasant, calm sensation cover her as they glided close to her bed. The planet seemed to her to be covered in a lovely, consoling blanket. The room shone with a beautiful golden brightness, and the air smelled like honey and fresh flowers.
The biggest fairy murmured, “We must go now,” her voice soft as a breeze. “But keep in mind, every time you close your eyes, we are out there distributing dreams of love and happiness.”
Ella nodded as though light were filling her heart. “I appreciate it. I appreciate the lovely dreams.
The fairies started to drift toward the window, their wings creating trails of glittering dust in the air—their delicate flutter. Ella felt great calm and warmth as they vanished into the evening. Like a lullaby, she could hear their faint hum, carrying with it the promise of good dreams.
Ella closed her eyes and curled even further beneath her blankets. She stopped wondering about the enchantment of the evening. Every night when she closed her eyes, she knew the Night Fairies would be there, spinning dreams of compassion and happiness only for her and for every child on Earth.
Knowing that the night would always offer something beautiful—peaceful dreams full of love and light—she smiled softly as she drifted off to sleep. Whatever the day had brought.
